According to CoinWorld news, on August 12, the U.S. Department of Justice stated that U.S. and international law enforcement agencies carried out a joint operation on July 24, seizing four servers, nine domain names, and approximately 1,000,000 USD in Bitcoin assets related to a Russian ransomware gang. The operation targeted BlackSuit and Royal ransomware, which have extorted over 500 million USD since 2022, gaining at least 370 million USD in illegal profits. The frozen Bitcoin assets partially stem from a 1,450,000 USD ransom paid by victims in April 2023. U.S. officials indicated that this operation represents a significant blow to the gang's activities, with investigations still ongoing and the possibility of additional charges.
